well, first if you shop around you will find those smart Y for much cheaper
than west marine, i think it's around $300 from defender...
those smart Ys have circuitry to make sure you only get power thru if each
outlet is on opposing phase. I *GUESS* if you dont' have any 240v loads,
you could rig your own adapter but i wonder if it's worth the trouble and
the risk.
