T&T: Anchor roller bale

I think the anchor roller bale is essential, or if not a bale then some
positive method to keep the anchor into the roller chocks. I've seen pins
through the shank even. Regardless of boat speed, if you get into nasty seas
the anchor has the ability to come out of the chocks at which point it becomes
something akin to a medieval flail. The ones on my boat are simply 1/2"
stainless bar stock bent into a U shape and bolted to the roller assembly. I
must flip mine down for deploy/retrieval but that works for me as I do not
have a helm operated winch.

Any negatives to removing the bale? I have looked around for an arched,
higher bale but haven't found one, I could probably have one fabricated if
really needed.

Thanks for any suggestions
