T&T: Cheap Delorme GPS puck

Previously I used the Delorme GPS puck on a Vista desktop. The initial
problem in getting it to work turned out to be the setup. I found that the
port and speed had to be set correctly and also there should be no port
conflicts.
I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 and found that while the GPS would
connect it was not very stable and an error message something to the effect
". VPS (virtual serial port) not supported by the Operating System.".
Clicking out of the error message would allow the GPS to connect. There
were several "blue screen crashes" that I have since attributed to the
Serial Emulation Software. The software has been removed and there have
been no further problems.
There may be other serial emulation software for Windows 7 available but I
have not bothered to look and am not sure it would work anyway.
Hope this helps.
