 >Does anyone with a Rocna have a size suggestion for me?

When I started investigating the purchase of a Rocna a couple of
years ago to replace our Bruce I called the Rocna folks in New
Zealand and talked with them at some length with regards to the best
size to get and where to get it (shipping from New Zealand gets REAL
expensive for anchors above about 20 pounds). Granted, we were
shopping for an anchor for a GB36, not a 50' boat, but they told me
that their anchor sizing chart is based on "real" situations, not
some computer-generated calculations or recommendations thought up by
a marketing department. The implication being that if they say the
Rocna 20 is the ideal size for a GB36, it's an ideal size in almost
all the anchoring conditions one is likely to encounter in a GB36.
According to them, the rule-of-thumb of taking the manufacturer's
size recommendation from their chart and then going up one or two
sizes is not necessary with Rocna. But with regards to your
question, I suggest you contact Rocna in New Zealand and ask them.
They were certainly very helpful when I talked to them a couple of
years ago.
