In addition to all the other mentions, I use my radar a lot on the narrow
land-cuts on the ICW (e.g., Rock Pile, Alligator-Pungo Canal.) The deep
water in these cuts really is in the center (with a few exceptions). I set
my radar on the one-quarter mile range and can then get a clear picture of
the boat's position relative to the sides of the cut. Works much better
than my own sense of lateral position in really narrow stretches.
