Radar to me is way up there in the northeast. Fog rolls in many times
unexpected. Although fog signals let you know there's something out there
you very seldom can tell where. My radar is turned on and running anytime my
dive boat leaves the dock. Helps also to determine which direction another
boat is running. Also when your running buoys helps many times you "see"
them long before your eyes can pick them up. On my Hatteras I find it very
reassuring to look at the screen annd see whats going on and where stuff is.
I don't always have it on when cruising the hatt if conditions are really
good. That said if you do get a radar use it when you think you don't really
need it, in the begining it really helps to see what the radar tells you is
out there. Bill
