Tom, The pumps must be rated for continuous duty since in warm weather there
is the possibility that they would run for a 24 hour period. In addition, if
the pump is in the engine room or near fuel tanks it needs to be ignition
protected. Chuck

While we are on the subject: why is it necessary to use the magnetic drive
pumps for cooling water for the marine AC systems? There are many 115V pumps
with regular seals made that should work well for much less $$. Is it the
application to run 24/7/365 as some owners do, that will result in rapid
seal failure. If you don't run the unit continuously, maybe this type of
pump is overkill? They are certainly a PITA if there is a problem providing
a constantly flooded inlet. surpluscenter.com shows several magnetic pumps
(and regular pumps) at less than Grainger and of course marine supply
outlets, and lots of other useful stuff. Tom REPRIEVE PT42
