T&T: AIS with Garmin and CE 2009

I got Smart Radio SR161 AIS (receive only) for $125 for my Coastal Explorer
2009 running on Windows XP.

Then I ended up with a Garmin GPSMAP 4208 used to display the Garmin radar I
bought.  I teed off the SR161 output to the laptop to the GPSMAP 4208's data
cable and viola, the info is displayed on the laptop, the 4208's charts, and
the 4208's radar display.

I got AIS 'til heck wouldn't have it.
