T&T: Raw water washdown...

Jeff,
The previous owner of Letitia plummed in a 110 AC Sears Shallow Well Jet
Pump and captive air tank. When its replacement time came I chose to use the
same system. Something like 8.2 GPM. I regulate it at 45 psi.
The intake is teed off the raw water intake for one of the main engines.
Here is a page from Sears:

A picture of part of the installation is here:

You can see the tee at the strainer and just see the 'snout' of the pump
above the shaft seal. The captive air tank is wall mounted above it. The
output goes to a spigot on deck. This system has done well for us for 7
years. (except for a replacement air tank and a pressure controler :-)
I would also look at this system were I needing to replace the current pump.
8-10 gpm

The disadvantage is that I have to run the gen but that is no big thing. I
don't know if the pump motor would 'burp' on MSW power and I would have to
do a little wireing to bring inverted power to the pump. I do that may
someday. I'm sure I can get some guidence on that subject.
I have thought about adding a valve and additional pickup inside the boat as
another emergency bilge pump.
That thought will probably rest a while longer.
I'll admit - these are not real nautical. They are not brass or with names
from traditional manufacturers but it sure washes the mud off.
YMMV
HTH
