T&T: VHF and antenna

Steven,

You did not say what your intended use for the 2nd VHF is.  Perhaps the
problem can be solved by purchasing a handheld?  These days they have a
variety of attractive features; submersible, DSC, WX alert, etc.  The high
power setting is typically 5 or 6 watts so even with the "rubber duck"
antenna, if you can see em you can talk to em.  A hand held has the added
advantage of being able to go anywhere including dinghy rides.
