T&T: Direct TV Sat Change?

The DirecTV internet service, now called HughesNet, will not work on the
boat. There is too much movement on the boat, even when it is tied to the
dock. This is because the antenna is not stabilized. Also, the HughesNet
antenna must be installed by a licensed installer since it is a transmitter
(sends a signal to the satellite) and FCC requires licensed installers for
this type of transmitter.

Hi Doc,
My name is Tom Wadsworth and I have a trawler on the upper Chesapeake Bay.
I would like to pick your brain for a minute if you do not mind.
The boat has a KVH C3 satellite dish that I would like to get working;
the boat and KVH are a year old.
I have talked to Direct TV and KVH and mostly get a headache.
I live north of Philadelphia about 100 miles from the boat.
It sounds to me as if I could just get Direct TV here at the house and
take a box down to the boat.
I am not really too picky about 'which' local channels I get, just
something.
I have been told that there might be some compatibility problems with
the C3 and Direct TV but from what you are saying, this is not an issue?
Last thing, do you have any experience with the Direct TV internet service?
Thank you for your help
Best Regards
Tom Wadsworth
