That is exactly the system I installed over 2 years ago.? The AC winches were ridiculously priced compared to DC but that would entail heavy DC wiring over a considerable distance.? I used a 5 watt panel with a controller ?

? I was bringing the boat up from Florida to Lake Michigan at the time and usually used the winch twice in the morning and twice in the evening (for the dog) since I anchored most of the time.? Never had a weak battery at that usage.? I never did the math and I'm sure if your winch usage is more, it could be a problem.
