Chuck,
I have had the boat in all the markets you mention except Orlando. Houston
for over 30 years. These markets have all the channels including the
locals on the 101 sat thus do not require more than one LNB except for HD.

Doc, The spot beams are transponders on the same sats that the other
programing comes from. We have had locals in Houston, Miami, Baltimore and
Orlando with our single LNB. You do not need a dual set up for every locals
market. We have not found one yet that needs dual LNB but we have not been
in
all markets. It is my understanding that a dual LNB is needed for HD and
that
would include locals. Chuck

The fact that you never changed from NY is why you don't need two LNBs to
get "local" channels - but, you're getting the NY locals, with NY
weather,
traffic, commercials, etc. Technically you are committing a no-no by
getting these channels when you don't live in NY... oh well!
Ray,
I am not getting NY locals, I am getting Ft. Myers locals. I changed when I
moved into the house, which is near Ft. Myers. The mystery remains...why
am I getting, on a single LNB KVH C3, the Ft. Myers locals and the 101 sat
at the same time with no moving of the antenna. It is locked in place.
I don't know how to get any clearer on this. Ft. Myers, last time I looked
at their website, required the 2nd LNB to get local channels. I have three
LNB/s on my house.
My original question remains...has Direct TV changed something?
