It doesn't make sense to me to have a snubber that has a much lower
breaking strength than the chain rode it is attached to. The lack of
elasticity can
be made up with length. I have a 1/2" HT chain (break strength 27,000lb)
and I figure about 50' of 1" braid (16,000lb) would work well. Is this
reasonable for a 50 ton trawler?
