My dermatologist also recommended Coppertone sport, but, many of the  local 
fishing guides swear by Bullfrog gel.
A good wide brim hat and long sleeve shirt and pants are a big help. A  
dermatologist friend who is an avid fisherman goes out pretty much covered from  
heard to foot, hat with large brim and foreign legion style neck shade, long  
sleeve shirt, fingerless gloves, and long pants!  Topped off with  a liberal 
application of sun screen.
