T&T: Selenes, Krogens at Boat Shows

Well, I guess someone has to say this. Never work on deck (which includes
walking as opposed to lounging) without boat shoes on! Your feets don't have
Sperry razor siping on their soles you silly bunnies. Neither are your toes
made of titanium. Run into a cleat or get too close to an anchor chain and
you can do yourself some serious damage - even at the dock.

A friend of mine who always went barefoot and had the soles to show for it,
split his big toe on a cleat. The ensuing infection was life-threatening.
This happened in the Bahamas and he was out of action for two months. Boats,
by definition, do not have rock steady surfaces. So, while some Brits never
wear shoes on teak, you should wear boat shoes or similar when on deck -
regardless of the surface.

However, blondes may go barefoot on the teak decks of a Wally 118 - even on
those occasions when they are underway in the Med.
