T&T: West Marine 2009 catalog

Hmmm... Maybe I'll ask again. I used to go research the price of something
on the web, then print out that page and take it to WM and they'd adjust the
price. They even had a dedicated key on the cash register / computer "match
competitive price" or something like that. They would make some guestimate
about shipping costs and add that in. At that time I would really rather buy
from someone local, but not at double the price.

I went to West today because I needed a couple of small things. I was
looking for a two conductor waterproof plug and a new boat hook tip for my
Starbrite universal pole. That's the one that you snap different attachments
on and off of.

I noticed that they had rearranged the store, and the stock of "parts"
seemed a lot less, while the clothing, cookware, etc. was up. I couldn't
find either item. They didn't have the plug (which I found right down the
road at a local vendor) and apparently don't carry the Starbrite system any
longer. The only dock lines they had were their own brand... they've stopped
carrying New England Ropes products, which I prefer.

Oh well, it just keeps getting worse and worse as a customer. Maybe that's a
stock that we can short, even at this low?

P.S. Those of you who have enjoyed my siglines over the years are going to
have to do without. My Outlook Express quit deleting messages, and short of
spending $60 for a tech service call to Micro$not, I couldn't fix it. I just
switched over to Outlook, which won't accept a file location for a sigline.
Oh well...

This is your last sigline. :-)

West does have a nice price match policy, here is part of it. "If you find a
nationally recognized US based retailer who has a lower advertised price on
an identical, in-stock item, within 10 days of purchase, just let us know!"
After this there are 5 steps you have to go through including waiting "while
the Associate confirms the price and in-stock availability of the item." I
got this out of the 2009 catalog.
