I don't think that current DF's have enough range to make an Atlantic
passage without carrying fuel bladders or some type of extra fuel.
That just doesn't sound like a great idea to me but I know people have
done it. In terms of safety, the boat is wicked strong, thick, and
safe. There is plenty of water tankage to support a long passage even
without a watermaker.
The real question you should ask is, why do you want to pilot a
production boat across a major ocean? It most probably isn't a safe
thing for a husband and wife team to do without other crew aboard (not
including the dogs!).

Nordhavn is the only production boat that I know of that is designed
to cross major oceans. In general, they are not comparably priced to
similar sized DeFevers. They are outstanding boats and were high on
our final list.
Everything with boats is a tradeoff. Make a list of your absolute
requirements to narrow the list of what boats are appropriate for your
adventures. The right trawler will eventually find you.
