T&T: Fuel Filter restriction indicators

Hello all:
Winds tend to cause small craft warnings.
Which causes me to do 'boat stuff'.
Going to install fuel filter restriction indicators;
Raycor states, DO NOT USE TEFLON TAPE
use plumbers putty on the threads.

Of 3 different brands of plumbers putty all state,
in one form or another,
NOT TO BE USED WITH:
Petroleum products
Gas, oil, alcohol, fuel, etc.

What should I use?
