Brait -- trade name for a 12-strand braid line from Yale Cordage
Warping -- using lines to maneuver boat closer to dock (vis a vis
using engine/thruster)
Hockles -- from www.seatalk.info: "A knob of cordage which forms when
the line is twisted opposite the lay. The knob weakens the line and
makes it impossible for the line to run freely through a block."
