T&T: Perkins question

As regards the Perkins rear main seals leaking, I have never seen this 
on my twin 1984 Perkins T6-354's, and my friend has the same engine in 
his 34 Mainship (single) and he has never had a problem either.  I am 
not sure where this comes from, as I have heard of it before, but being 
a Perkins user I have always asked about engine issues when I meet 
another Perky powered vessel, and so far nobody has had this dread 
problem.  Starting to seem like an urban legend.
