T&T: flat rope

Was looking at Ankorlina rope as a possible solution for a stern anchor.
Handy, compact. . . all except for the price. Then I got to thinking about
rolling my own so to speak. Buy the line from a cargo supply place and stitch
the links in with my Sailrite machine.

Now  to parti-clars. Has anyone done this? Where to get the rope, what thread,
and the spool?
