I have heard that it is not the Moose you have worry about but the Elk.  
The horns of the bull Elk curve so far forward that when they spot a 
human behind a tree they actually can put their head against the tree 
and with some effective shoulder movement, their horns rotate around the 
tree and gore the unfortunate sole behind the tree.  The situation can 
be mitigated however by getting low to the ground on your hands and 
knees.  You do however need to make sure there are no Badger holes in 
the ground near when you put your hands down.  Badgers love to eat 
fingers.....
