The ball breaks the anchor out of the sand as it runs down the anchor line.
I've done it on boats up to 50 ft. never ran anything bigger. Drags the
anchor to the surface motor up to the ball as you run the boat. Yes you
still pick up the line by hand. Most line we've ever retrived would have
been around 2000ft. I've never seen any canyon boats even try using a
windlass. To easy with a ball and much faster. Bill
