Given that some on the list are playing down the importance or danger of
crossover lines, or some even advocating leaving them open, Mike's post was
directly on target, and all would be advised to read it again.

Crossover lines are a tool to use in balance tanks, but generally only when
at dock or a mooring. When underway, all crossover lines should generally
always be closed.
