Listing is dangerous, less so while tied to a dock. At sea it is 
inherently dangerous.

Open crossover lines are particularly dangerous because they are out of 
sight and out of mind. I have had repeated issues of this type over the 
years. Accidents generally are not caused by listing, but sometimes 
contribute to them happening.

This issue is so elementary that every seaman should understand it, and 
many don't, even amongst professionals.
