T&T: Registration - Florida or elswhere - how big is the

I was talking about before they did that. Of course, since my boat is
documented with a home port of Wilmington, DE and a mailing address in
Texas, where do you think they would send that note? Maybe both. In either
case, you still don't know where the boat actually is, and you can't find me
at my UPS store mailing address.

It's much easier for the water cops to look and see if you have a
registration sticker on the boat from somewhere. The tax cops can walk the
piers looking for the same. All I was saying was that Texas closed up most
of the loopholes, but they had no way to track/find the boats before they
required registration.

SNIP..". For a long time in Texas, you didn't have
to register a Federally documented boat. But then, how would they know you
  were even around? "

Here's how. The Coast Guard sends list of documented boats to state tax
authorities. The state can then check if sales tax has been paid.
MA does not require documented boats to be registered, but they do require
proof then sales/use tax was paid.
