I've just had my 2nd ProTech 1240i Plus fail.  They both lasted less than 3 
months.  A good friend went to a different make after he had three ProTech 
1240s fail in less than a year.  The techs won't talk to you unless you're a 
dealer.  Has anyone out there had a similar experience?  Is anyone aware of 
recalls? I've talked to the West Marine Product people and they say they're 
not aware of any problems.  Both of the units had the same build #.  I think 
it is a heat problem.  The units are supposed to have heat protection but I 
don't think it is working.  With my boat docked in the sun here in SW 
Florida, it can easily get up to 100 and higher in the boat.

Also, I would appreciate recommendations for a RELIABLE--built like a 
tank--battery charger.
