John shared his experience with bottom paint being sanded and then landing
all over the boat, leaving quite a splotchy mess.
I had the same experience at Shelter Island in San Diego just before leaving
for the 2007 FUBAR. I had my bottom sanded prior to two coats of SeaHawk
paint, and the topsides was a DISASTER. The yard made good on it by have 10
workers descend on the boat with a special cleaning solution. I think it
was 1/2 gallon of Simple Green, 1 cup Ammonia, and some TSP. Not 100% sure
this was the mix, but it cut through the suspended bottom paint after 20 or
30 seconds of brushing with a soft brush. It was the only bad experience I
had with the pre trip haul out. Good luck! Scott
