T&T: cruise generators

The thread on this matter piqued my curiosity. In principle it's dead, dirt, 
simple but the devil's in the details.

Question for engine specialists. If I were to drive the genset from the 
front pulley of the crankshaft, what about side loads and premature bearing 
failure?

Emailed Yanmar and they referred me to the local diesel people from whom 
I've yet to get a call.

I already have a 120 a Balmar on the port engine. Any thoughts about a 10KW- 
peak- generator on the stbd?
