T&T: Subject: Re: Battery Charging

Since it's been brought up (Blue Sea ACR) I'll add to the confusion.

I have a Xantrex XC3012 shore power charger wired directly to my 2 battery
banks, not going through any switches. So now my shore charging requirements
appear to be completely under control.

I have the Blue Sea "Add a Battery"
http://bluesea.com/category/2/productline/overview/329 package sitting on the
shelf collecting dust. I had planned on using it to run my alternator
charging. But, now I'm wondering .... I'm 99% sure it will be fine while
underway. However, if I'm at the dock, on shore power, won't the ACR try to
over-ride the "Smart" part of my Xantrex charger? The Xantrex charger looks
at the batts and determines which bank will be in which phase (Bulk,
Absorption, Float), what voltage & amps it will receive and the timing of
everything. I'm concerned about conflicts between the 2 "Smart" systems.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Darrell
