Follow Trawlerers: last week I had Seahawk on the hard at a local do-it-yourself yard. One of the projects was to repair a couple
blisters on the chines which involved grinding away at lots of layers of bottom paint and barrier coat and gelcoat. The upshot
of all this is that water at this yard is closely guarded so we decided to wash the boat once we got her home. We were tired so
didn't get to the washing until after a rain (Pacific NW). The gelcoat on our freshly sealed and waxed topsides was splotchy and
almost black in areas from the sanding dust I assume. The stains come out but with a lot of elbow grease.
Lesson - cover or wash the boat - remove the sanding dust, especially bottom paint.
