T&T: 110vac

I have a "cruise" generator that supplies the whole boat with 110 VAC while
 under way.
I simply set the engine speed to, in my case, 1950 RPM. As the cruise
gen. comes up to this preset speed, the sensing relays {frequency} kick the
supply to my main selector switch. I usually select "cruice gen." before
getting underway so as soon as I get engine speed, I have the entire boat on
A/C again. The selector switch can select power to shore, gen set 1, gen
set 2, or cruise gen.

In my case, the gen is an old Monkgomery Wards 5000 KW farm generator
mounted off engine with correctly sized double vee belt pulleys driven off the
engine crank. I have a volt and freq. meter on my electric to monitor the
output. It has been on the boat since build in ' 76.

I bought one of the Harbor Freight ones a year ago so I could have a spare
as mine was getting erratic. On disassemble, found a dirty slip ring
that fixed the problem and it has been working good since.
