T&T: Forwarding a Previous Survey

As a matter of interest, relative to the use and trading of surveys, often
the surveyor retains copyright of his survey work, much the same way a
designer, architect, engineer, musician, and so forth automatically retains
copyright. In other words, merely buying a survey does not especially buy
the copyright, no more than buying a set of building plans, book, or musical
CD buys the copyright therein.  Therefore, not paying the original surveyor
could be Federal Copyright Infringement, a serious matter, i.e., still fresh
in the mind of Napstar users.

I had to pay for a previous survey from a prospective buyer from the
original surveyor which was around 30% of the original survey. I felt that
was fair. It helped me as the buyer, it also covered the request from the
insurer to be able to insure the boat immediately so I would charge for it.
