T&T: DeFever pilothouse 49 - A vs. B

For the Sen Koh-built boats, the primary difference between the "A plan"
and "B plan" 49 RPH DeFevers is that the A (most common type) has the
engine room access through a hatch in the galley floor area, and the B
has the engine room access through a vertical door in the master
stateroom. Most B's also have a short staircase from the galley to the
master stateroom which makes it easier to get to the head there, rather
than going up to the pilothouse and back down to the stateroom level.
I'm just not that familiar with the CTF-built boats to tell you for sure.

All that said, there can be a lot of differences among these boats where
original owners customized them, or where a customization was propagated
for some number of boats afterwards. I have a B but don't have the
short staircase down to the master stateroom - I have extra storage in
the galley and master instead. I have friends with an A that have their
engine room access through a door in the master stateroom. A few boats
have a day head... they can be a bit different and I suggest you look at
as many boats as you can and consider each of them against what you
really want to do with the boat. I believe there were very few B's
built - I think it's less than 10, but again... the boats can vary so
much that you shouldn't use "A" or "B" only as a criteria.
