I will be buying a new windlass soon. I am not quite sure of the
nomenclature of the chain I am using now.
I measured the links with a dial caliper and found the following

The specifications of my chain are:
Wire diameter .35 inch
inside measurement of link, long way 1.02 inch
outside measurement of link, long way 1.68 inch
outside measurement of link, across 1.15 inch

the chain links are stamped G4

I measured some drill bits with the same caliper and found
a 5/16" bit shows as .32" on the caliper dial
 a 3/8" bit shows as .375
The chain seems to be somewhere in between, maybe a metric size, the
chain was working well on my previous windlass (S&L Sprint 1000) gypsy but I
don't know that gypsy size and can't find the original specs in the
previous owners paperwork.
I want to be sure to have the correct information to order the new
windlass, does anyone know what it would be based on these specs?
Thanks
