T&T: Federal Law re Using Blower Before Starting Engine

When I repowered the Topaz we ran into the problem of not enough air into
the engine room. They put a manometer in there and there was some negative
pressure and of course it was to hot for them. We had early valve issues
with both engines (J.D.'s). I cut a few (four) more vents in, since the
topaz doesn't have external engine room vents it took a little fooling
around to get them in a good place. That took care of the pressure issue we
also installed two new blowers one pulling air in one out, this seemed to
help quite a bit tempature wise in the engine room. Of course when you shut
the engines and blowers down it does get hot in there. The problem with
thinking the engine intake will move the air is many times the heat,
something diesels can do without. They like cool dense intake air to preform
well. Bill
