T&T: Battery recomendation

I have twin Perkins 4-236 engines in my trawler. I have 2 Grp 27s in parallel for one and 4 golf carts configured as 12 volt batteries for the other engine and also to serve as my house bank. I know that a single Grp 24 would suffice instead of the 2 Grp 27s, but I don't want those batteries to work too hard when the start button is pushed. I've always understood that one trick to long battery life is to allow as small of a discharge as possible and then a quick recharge. And that one extra Grp 27 cost all of about $75 (plus cables). I have not read anything that would cause me to rethink this setup.

I understand that one of the differences between auto and marine batteries is that the marine batteries are constructed more robustly in order to withstand the vibration inherent in a boat.

What does the list recommend as a new battery to start my Lehman 120? The
owner's manual says 140 amp/hrs minimum. All the battery does is start the
engine. Any reason why I would need a "marine" starting battery vs an ordinary
car starting battery? Group 24 or group 27 & why?

Thanks
