Furthermore, the Balmar MC612 ramps up the charge current slowly over a
minute or two. During this initial period very little charge current is
produced regardless of how fast the engine is running. This featuer was
incorporated to save belts from a sudden shock load if the batery was
fully depleted so low that the regulator might otherwise go full field to
start charging at full output.
The MC612 is anything but simple. The instruction set is over 10,000 lies
of code. Most people fail to use even half of the availabel featuers.
How man ypeople know that from the factory the default is for half
output. This is to prevent damage to a too small battery bank. People who
actually read the manual and follow the complete configuration steps will
get the full benefit. But those who simply plug it in and forget it are
not using what they paid for.
