Any harm being done (shorter life) when a fully-charged battery bank is
subjected to the charging regimen even though it is "full?"
Initiating the battery charger or starting the engine puts the battery
through the whole process again, which takes awhile.
On our (former) sailboat, which has a Link 2000 with a Cruising Equipment
"Next Step" regulator, if the battery is "full" the regulator quickly moves (in
less than a minute) through the steps to "float." I assume that's because the
Link "knows" that the battery is full and transmits info to the regulator.
But a simple regulator (Balmar MC-612) evidently doesn't "know" the battery is
full and has to go thru all the steps.
