 The "Golden Age" of boatbuilding is a very subjective thing.
 For some it was back before fiberglass, when skilled woodworkers fashioned 
boats out of wood.

 From my perspective it was before 1975 since the blistering bottom problem 
started then in fiberglass boats.
 My boat is a 1974 Coronado 35 sailboat., Some say it is overbuilt (that 
means stronger than it needs to be) others say watch out for hull-deck 
separation. I've had her since 1996. No problems.
