T&T: New Jersey law and boating safety class requirement

A friend send the following post along from the Krogen owners list.

"New Jersey passed a law effective June 2009 requiring all boaters including
transients to have written proof
of having taken a boating safety course, even if your home state does not
require it.

The New Jersey website goes on to say that "...a person holding a current
United States Coast Guard operatorbs
(captains) license, who is otherwise required to possess a boat safety
certificate, may operate a power vessel
on the waters of the State of New Jersey without having completed a boat
safety course approved by the
Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police, provided that they have their
captains license in their possession
while operating."
