We have friends that are currently using the spot system and some that have used it in the past. They have all cautioned us that the "911" feature is less than desirable outside their home waters and totally useless outside the US so should not be depended upon. It is , as has been said, NOT to be used or considered as a replacement for an EPIRB or other emergency safety equipment. But to keep folks informed as to where your are it seems to do the job. I would consider it for that function alone and not be dependent on it as an emergency devise. Chuck
