As do Eric's, my tanks fill from the top- for the same reason. My 
polish/transfer/bleed system is separate from the machinery supply system 
and the pickups are 1/4" from the tank bottoms. Having the same fear as 
Eric-- that of overfilling a tank during transfer-- I have two switches. The 
polish switch is a simple off/on switch and is used ONLY when the suction 
and return valves are set to the same tank and the Walbro 6208 can run for 
hours. The transfer switch is a 1 hour, cheap, rotary spring powered timer 
switch. I calculate the amount of fuel at 43 gph--which is conservative--  
that I want to transfer and set the switch for a modestly smaller interval.
