Tucker,

Our first Trawlerfest was at Solomons about a dozen or so years ago. When my
wife and I sat out in the very large crowd at the second annual Trawlerfest
and Georgs Kolesnikovs stood at the microphone and mc'd the event. He
essentially introduced us to a new way of life and we were hooked. Thanks
Georgs! And Georgs, remember the crab legs were awesome!

We met so many really fine people who opened their boats for us to view
(trawler crawl) and showed us what it would be like. You're on the right
track to start with a Trawlerfest. We've been to many of them and will
continue to go as time permits (plus MTOA rendezvous, plus DeFever
Rendezvous, plus Great Loop rendezvous)

We finally bought a DeFever 44+5 because it met the criteria of what we
wanted most. Make list of your must haves and nice to haves as you learn
more about the boats you see, i.e. single versus twins, walk around decks,
walk in engine room, U shaped galley up and so on.

We too are moving our business onboard our boat so we can travel and work at
the same time.
We own a training company and have transitioned most of the courses (70)
into asynchronous web-based training.

For communications we use air cards for the lap tops and WiFi in the
marinas. Get a booster antenna for your WiFi and a booster for your cell.
(www.5milewifi.com) and (www.digitalantenna.com) are two examples.

Best,
Bob
