Mike raises a good point.  Alaska is on the move, it's remote and  
areas such as Controller Bay are probably way down NOAAs list of  
areas to re-survey.  It's one of the reasons why a good, fast dinghy  
is such as asset in SE AK.  We almost always use ours to checkout an  
anchorage, entrance or bay with which we are unfamiliar.  Towed on a  
short leash we can be underway in less than 5 min., makes for a great  
deal less stress.

Just remember to let out extra rode for the odd uplifting earthquake  
or maybe just leave those areas to us old retired earth science types :)
