The information above is a perfect example of why no one should rely on
any information except that provided by an official representative of
the customs service. If you get into trouble you will be the one who
gets fined or jailed.
Since we have such great telephone communications today, there is almost
no excuse for not telephoning ahead. Then follow the instructions as to
where they want you to clear in.
It is a very bad idea to just show up, especially if you have bypassed a
clearance office that the customs people would have preferred you to
use. And, you aren't going to know without asking. Better safe than sorry.
My point is not that Anacortes won't be ok, but that the way to
absolutely prevent any trouble is to ask. I do this frequently, don't
ask how I know.
