T&T: water line to dripless shaft bearings

My 2 cents - check the stuffing box temp with an infrared thermometer during
stabilized twin engine operation. Check again when running on one engine.
If the temp change is not great, you're likely good. If not, run a simple
cross feed off two tees. Then they are both fed. I might do this anyway, as a
damaged shaft and/or worn packings are potentially expensive.

An 'unbraked' windmilling prop at trawler speeds does not spin that fast,
but it is draggy. Suggest you also check the tranny temps, but I doubt it will
be a problem (using your hand on the case is a good method - if you can keep
it there, it's okay temp-wise). The Velvet Drive factory techs gave me this
tidbit. Good luck to you!

Related question--the boat was built with no cross feed between the two
dripless shaft bearings. Thus, if I run on a single engine, the "off
side" is
not getting a water feed.
