I second Michael's recommendation. Several years ago I was prescribed
a blood thinner for a clot in my leg. At the time I was an avid
bicyclist. My doctor advised me to carry a small packet of a clotting
agent like Quik-Clot in my small tool kit to stop bleeding from the
inevitable scrapes and road rashes. Otherwise it would take half an
hour or more for the bleeding to stop normally. In boating there are
the inevitable cuts and scrapes from sharp edges, wires, fish hooks,
tools, etc. Anyone who is on blood thinners, probably including
aspirin, should have a couple of packets in a medical kit. There are
several brands on the market. Ask your doctor.
