Michael,
Something like this is used by the emergency crews that treat auto
accident victims, which there are a lot here.
The newspapers "claim" that a Turk invented it so every time a person
is saved, he is given credit, and a blessing.
Not so sure the above is true, but this stuff seems to added many
many minutes to the victim probability of being saved, if loss of
blood is a problem..

Good day Listees,
Recently during research for a magazine article on nano tech I ran
across a
product that I find very interesting and highly applicable to the marine
environment and boating specifically. The product line is called Quik
Clot
and has several individual products that are derived from nano
technology.
The main line of products I was interested in were those having to do
with
bandages and dressings that could be used to help stop bleeding in
emergency
medical conditions onboard. They are touted to reduce blod loss
substantially better than normal bandages and pressure procedures.
You can
tell I'm a medical layman. By Googling Quik Clot you will find a raft of
sources for information and news stories having to do with acceptance
and
usage in trauma conditions.
**Please note: I am not a doctor or medical professional.** I would
like to
hear any input from those people on the list with any experience with
the
products. I found a site called Best Glide,
http://www.bestglide.com/quikclotpage.htm , that is primarily for
aviation
applications but sells various Quik Clot bandages and other products.
There
are more on the Internet. I have purchased several packages of
bandages and
other products for the boat and am planning training to maximize their
advantage should they be needed.
Would like to hear from anyone who has medical training and knowledge
of the
products..
Standard disclaimer, no connections to products or suppliers.
Best regards,
